Original Esoteria, Volume 1, Number 6, dated August 1968, published by Esoteria Co. of Los Angeles, California. An unusual late-1960s adult magazine combining provocative photography, illustrated short stories, personal advertisements and the underground erotic culture of the period.

The striking full-color cover features an outdoor bondage-themed photographic scene with a blonde model, chains and leather wrist restraints, accompanied by an inset photograph of several women engaged in a playful outdoor scene. The bold red-and-white masthead and vivid color photography give this issue a distinctive late-1960s appearance.

Inside, Esoteria presents a mixture of adult pictorials, illustrated fiction and personal advertisements reflecting the alternative sexual interests and subcultures of the era.

Featured contents include “His Ball and Chain,” “Turn About Is Fair Play,” “The Choke Was on Him,” “Tight Fit,” “Naughty But Nice,” and “A Bum Steer.”

The magazine also includes a substantial personal advertisements section, along with fascinating period advertisements for nudist photography, adult novelty products, underground publications and alternative social clubs.

Of particular interest are advertisements for a 1968 Nudist Color Calendar, Raised Skirts, and the World Club Directory, offering an intriguing glimpse into the mail-order adult publishing industry of the late 1960s.
