“TEENAGE SADIST” – 1973  – Bill Ward Gene Bilbrew Hilbarth Inc. – Illustrated Collectors Issue

Original “Teenage Sadist”, published in 1973 by Hilbarth, Inc., Buffalo, New York. Cover code TA-11, original price $4.00, and identified on the cover as an “Illustrated Collectors Issue.”

This is an original early-1970s underground illustrated publication from Hilbarth, a publisher closely associated with the era's fetish, bondage and specialty illustration scene. Teenage Sadist is also documented as part of Hilbarth's catalog alongside work by noted fetish illustrators Bill Ward and Gene Bilbrew (Eneg). A specialist catalog specifically indexes Teenage Sadist as Bill Ward / Hilbarth, while a bookseller's catalog identifies it as one of the stories later collected in Hilbarth's Bondage Trios series.

The striking full-color illustrated cover is followed by black-and-white artwork throughout, making this an interesting survivor from the pre-internet underground mail-order publishing world of the early 1970s.
